Official ClientPlot templates skip the mapping quiz. ClientPlot counts what it found, then you import. Unusual spreadsheets still get a mapping review.

What is in the template

Client, project, deliverable, status, owner, due date, waiting on, delivered date and notes. The Excel file has filters, frozen headers, a status dropdown and date highlighting for the first 200 rows: red for overdue, yellow for today and green for the next seven days. CSV is the same data without formatting.

Client

Who receives the work.

Project

The engagement, campaign or project.

Deliverable

The specific output the client is owed.

Status

Not Started, In Progress, Waiting or Completed.

Owner

The person responsible for delivery.

Due Date

The date promised to the client.

Waiting On

The missing approval, asset or decision.

Delivered Date

When the client actually received it. Kept in notes on import.

Notes

Acceptance notes and file location.

Who it is for

Agencies, consultants and freelancers who need a list of promised outputs, not a pile of internal tasks or a calendar of dates alone.

How to use it

  1. 1. List the thing the client receives

Write Homepage copy deck or August campaign report, not Review copy or Pull numbers. One deliverable per row.

  2. 2. Keep status, owner and due date current

Status is whether the deliverable is moving. Owner is who gets it out the door. Due Date is the client promise, not your internal draft target.

  3. 3. Record what you are waiting on, then the delivered date

Waiting On is a person plus the missing approval, asset or decision. Fill Delivered Date when the client actually has the file, so a finished row is more than a status change.

  4. 4. Import when the owed-work list is the job

Upload the file and confirm client, project, deliverable and due date. Spreadsheet statuses and delivered dates stay in notes. Review owners before saving.

When a spreadsheet starts becoming difficult

  • A task list full of verbs, but nobody can name what the client is waiting to receive
  • Approval status lives in Slack and the file lives in a drive
  • Two deliverables for the same client share one vague project row
  • You mark work complete before the client has the asset

Hang each deliverable under the client

ClientPlot keeps the owed item as a task on the client and project, so delivery and the relationship stay together.

Separate the promise from the busywork

Use the task tracker for the actions that produce the deliverable. Use this sheet for the output itself.

Bring the list you already keep

Import the file, review the client and project groupings, and keep extra spreadsheet context in notes.

Frequently asked questions

What is a client deliverables tracker?

It is a list of outputs you owe clients: the file, report, site or memo they receive. Each row has a client, project, owner, due date and room to record when it went out.

How is this different from a task tracker or deadline tracker?

A task tracker lists the actions that produce the work. A deadline tracker is about promised dates and an internal target. This sheet is the owed item itself, plus a delivered date so complete means the client has it.

Can agencies track monthly retainers here?

Yes. Use one row per deliverable per period, such as August campaign report under Monthly reporting. Repeat the project name and change the period in the deliverable or notes.

Does it track invoices?

No. It tracks what you delivered. Keep invoices and payment status in your billing tool.

Can I import this into ClientPlot?

Yes. Client, project, deliverable and due date become records. Status, waiting-on and delivered date are kept in notes.
