Simple Client Tracker Template

A short client list for people who do not want seventeen columns. Track who the client is, how to reach them, whether they are active, and when to follow up.

Free download. No signup required.

No signup required. Excel includes the extra formatting. CSV is portable data only.

Outgrown the simple list?

Import the same names into ClientPlot when you need projects, tasks and a dashboard.

Free to preview. No credit card. Create an account only when you want to save your dashboard.

  1. Spreadsheet rowsClient records
  2. Project columnProjects under that client
  3. Deadline columnDue dates on the work
  4. Next action / next taskTrackable tasks
  5. Client notesNotes on the client page

Official ClientPlot templates skip the mapping quiz. ClientPlot counts what it found, then you import. Unusual spreadsheets still get a mapping review.

What is in the template

Client Name, Email, Phone, Status, Next Follow-Up and Notes. Status uses Lead, Active, On Hold, Completed and Inactive. Overdue follow-up dates highlight in Excel.

Client Name

The person or account you work with.

Email

Primary contact email.

Phone

Best number for a quick call.

Status

Lead, Active, On Hold, Completed, or Inactive.

Next Follow-Up

The next date you should reach out.

Notes

What you promised, and what they cared about.

Who it is for

Beginners, side projects, and anyone whose current tracker is a notes app or a sticky.

How to use it

  1. 1. One row per client

If you cannot name the person or company, it does not belong on the list yet.

  2. 2. Set a next date before you close the file

An empty Next Follow-Up cell is how quiet clients disappear.

  3. 3. Filter to Active when the list grows

Leave Completed and Inactive rows in place so you keep history.

  4. 4. Import the same six columns later

Upload the file at clientplot.com/import. Client Name, Status and Next Follow-Up map on their own.

When a spreadsheet starts becoming difficult

  • A tracker so wide you never fill it in
  • Follow-ups living in your head
  • No status, so everyone looks equally urgent

Keep it short on purpose

Six fields is enough until named projects need their own tab.

Move up when the list gets noisy

The same names import into ClientPlot without a redesign.

Frequently asked questions

Is this really free?

Yes. Download Excel or CSV with no account and no email wall.

When should I switch to the full client tracker?

When a client has more than one active project, or when you need due dates separate from follow-ups.

Can I import this into ClientPlot?

Yes. Upload the file. ClientPlot counts the clients and follow-up dates, then you import.
