Questions people ask
What does a client spreadsheet checker do?+
It reads the columns it can recognize and reports counts and likely problems: missing emails, empty follow-up dates, overdue work, unclear statuses, and possible duplicate names. It does not change your file.
What should I check in a client spreadsheet?+
Every client row should have a name, a way to reach them, a status you actually use, and a next follow-up if the relationship is still open. Project and task rows should point at a real client. Dates should be dates, not notes.
How do I find duplicate clients in Excel?+
Sort by name and scan near-matches such as Stone Creative and Stone Creative LLC. Also look for the same email or the same company under two spellings. This checker flags those as possible duplicates so you can review them.
How do I clean up a client tracking spreadsheet?+
Fix the missing names first, then pick one spelling for each client. Fill empty emails and next follow-up dates for active work. Replace one-off status words with a short list. Move leftover project rows onto a client that exists.
What fields should every client record include?+
A client name, company if it differs, email or phone, status, last contact, next follow-up, and a short note about the last promise. Add project and deadline fields when named work no longer fits in one cell.
When should I move beyond a spreadsheet?+
When finding today's work takes a filter, when two people overwrite the same cells, or when clients, projects, tasks, and follow-ups no longer fit cleanly in the grid. You can keep the file and import it into ClientPlot.
